Blue-tailed bee-eater

Ammana Kere, Chikkaballapur, Karnataka

A steady build bee eater with vibrant necklace and glossy blue tail, can easily be found mostly sitting in wire or clean branches of trees or playing with dust from the ground. Like other bee eaters, it searches dragon flies, moths, grasshopper or insects which flying around in the field. This bird is not that shy and gives good amount time to photograph. Even if it flies, it again come back and sit on the almost same place where it sat before.

There were a group of bee eaters I found in dried Ammana kere hunting food beneath the scorching sun around 10 am. Sometimes it was preening and stretching, and it's glossy feather flashed so loud. Really amazing to watch the activities of this beautiful birds.
