Eurasian spoonbill
Talakere, Tumkur, Karnataka
Talakere is a very underrated and uncommon lake in outskirts of Bangalore. It is around 120 km away and belongs to Tumkur district. We went there for experience birds habitat right after the winter. And we found a flock of Spoonbills across the lake.

In a bright sunny day the spoonbills beside the lakebeds were looking absolutely stunning. They move along with a flock to after seeing us, as they are not that habituated with humans. That’s why they choose that interior otherwise we could have found those in many other places. It was around 12 o’clock afternoon, we left the lakebed and walked through the bund area to get better view of the birds. They were not alone there. There were few other major birds groups like Grey heron, Painted stork, River terns, Medium egrets and few other waders.

As soon as we approached, they started flying together. Oh man what a beauty we have witnessed that time. Under the blue sky, a flock of Spoonbills kept flying above keeping us on middle. That’s how they move high circling a particular area. They don’t directly touch the higher altitudes. Time passed by and we could still see those up in the sky. I kept photograph the flock.

It is not that they have left the place, They will comeback to the same area after an hours or so. But we were running out of time as we had to return back to Bangalore. So we left them there. A scorching Sun almost killed us but we had a joy inside us to see this beautiful bird in a large quantity.
