Little ringed plover

Hesaraghatta Lake, Karnataka

This beautiful tiny plover always catches attention due to its vibrant plumage and activity. It never stands still but keep moving for food from the ground of muddy wetland. I have encountered with this beauty many times as sue to its continuous movement it can be seen easily. Not too shy too. In Bangalore I found a group of little-ringed in Hessarghatta foraging from the ground and it gave me ample amount of time to photograph it. An adult male has it's distinctive yellow ring around its eyes and a perfect combination of Black, White and Rufus colored feathers.

Talakere, Tumkur, Karnataka

This 2 individuals have been found in TALAKERE where first one was a sub-adult roaming solitary beside the dried lake bed. This time it was a bit shy due to open land. I could manage a single picture of it then it flew away. You can see due to its age, the plumage is less prominent. And the second one is juvenile where you can't find its yellow eye ring and the black feather around. Isn't it interesting ?

Ammana Kere, Chikkaballapur, Karnataka

This one I have found while going for White Stork in Ammana kere. It was around 10:30 in the morning. Under that scorching sun, a couple of plovers foraging from the ground and I quit running behind the White-eyed buzzard and sat on the ground to watch these birds. Its always seems magical to watch beautiful birds like this.
