More Information:	Pathra is a village of temples with hundreds of small temples. Unfortunately, many of the temples are in bad shape because of lack of preservation, damage by the Kangsabati and vandalizing by the locals. There are 34 temples with “enriched terracotta artwork”. Those deserving a special mention are the naba-ratna temple, kachari mahal, rasmancha, dalan of Kalachand, Durgeswar temple and Pancha Shiva temple. Pathra Attractions Series of temple Kangsabati river Meeting with Yeasin Pathan Brief One of the absolute offbeat destination of West Bengal, located in Paschim Midnapore and it is 2 hours drive by car. This place is assembled with 34 temples, besides Kangshabati river, which are constructed 200 years back in the time of Gupta time and it was an important hub for Hindus, Jain and Buddhists. That time Pathra was the hinterland of Tamralipta port. Fact Behind In 1732, when Nawab Alivardi Khan appointed Bidyananda Ghoshal as the revenue collector in Ratnachak Parganas, he started making group of temples in local areas to draw he attention of Hindu pilgrims but Alivardi Khan was not too pleased by his motive and threw him into the prison. Later Bidyananda Ghoshal was sentenced to death by a giant elephant to crush his head, surprisingly the elephant refused to do that. After that the village has been reportedly given the name as Pathra. By that incident the Ghoshal family changed their surname as Majumder and continued building temples. Another bunch of family with surname Bandopadhyay joined them and proceed with the same work. Everything you will see after visiting the village. Later they failed to establish more due to lack of funds and indigo and silk cultivation revolution. Introducing Yeasin Pathan Later a small group of people in modern age mostly Yeasin Pathan, technical assistance from IIT Kharagpur and the resident in Pathra, in 1960s started getting involved as a savior and protector of these temples. He had taken initiative to renovate these temples having discussion with govt. of India as we all state and convinced them to manage fund for this Nobel initiative. His work will be remembered to all and we salute you sir. Today, 28 out of 34 temples in Pathra are under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India. Recommandation Meet the greatest personality Yeasin Pathan and think if you can take any further initiative, if not possible through fund, at least as a mental supporter. Take guide, there are 3/4 guide whom you can hire for an hour and you will get the contact form Mr. Pathan himself. They guide charges is minimal and they describe it well. Moghalmari Buddhist Site Moghalmari is situated on the left bank of Subarnarekha River in West Medinipur, which is 3.2 miles away of Dantan Railway Station and 1.2 miles from Nekurseni Railway Station. The site covers an area of some 4,300 square yards and is considered the largest and oldest archaeological excavation in West Bengal. If you want to avail local transport from Kharagpur, take Bus for Sonakonia-Datan Route and get down at Monoharpur which is around 50 km. From Monoharpur it is walking distance. As Kharagpur is nearby, one can hire car from Kharagpur and take highway to reach Keshiary. Take the way which is going to Kukai village through Hajipur then reach Gaganeswar where the fort is situated. The total distance is about 55 km by car. Keshairy is around 27 kms from Kharagpur. Brief in 1438-1469 during the rule of Surya Vansi king Gajapati Kapilendra Dev, Kurumbera Fort was built followed the Oriya inscription style. The fort is now protected by ASI.
